We created a custom lace dress for Vanessa Hazel, for her wedding at one of Ireland's most beautiful historic venues, Castle Leslie, in May of 2024.

Vanessa knew she wanted a sheer wedding dress, featuring long sleeves and an open back. I had worked with lace, many times before, but had never created a wedding gown entirely in lace, so I was really excited to start!

The next step was our first in person meeting, to show Vanessa the design sketch, select the lace and take the measurements. We combined a delicate calais lace, with a thicker guipure lace, to create contrasting texture on the collar and a "cut out" detail in the back. I used a flesh toned fabric, to emphasise the transparency and a hidden corset structure, on the waist to create that "cinched in" look.

We completed the design with a gorgeous row of lace covered buttons, down the back of the dress and sleeves. Vanessa styled her custom bridal look, with a pair of YSL pointed courts. Her natural glam and loosely tousled waves were created by make-up artist; Natasha Ray and hair stylist; Danielle Whelan.

I loved creating this piece and look forward to sharing a follow up blog, with a more detailed account of the creation of the dress.

These incredible photographs were shot by renowned wedding photographer, Peter Carvill.
